My babies are growing up.

I was up early so I figured I would post quick.

Last weekend I was invited to one of my preschoolers birthday parties:) I really love to go because they seriously are just my life.

It was my girl Tessa's birthday. Tessa has been with me since she was two years old so it was really emotional for me. I was looking through pictures of her and I over the last three years and decided I needed to make something with them.

My kids are a little too young to appreciate some well crafted picture frame. It is important to me to make it relevant to them and something they would use.

So I figured what little girl doesnt need a mirror, for dress up, make overs outfit checking. hehe:) So I refinished a mirror, painted and embellished. It came out lovely. Her mama cried.

Here it is...

Heres Tess and I at Chuck E. Cheeses.

Thats all for now, off to the market to get my fresh fruits and veggies.
More crafts this weekend.

Enjoy this sunny saturday,

Let the wild rumpus start.

My preschoolers own my heart.

I love to be crafty, and I love to combine my childlike life with my crafts.

Reading stories to my kids is one of my favorite things. I love to become other characters and use silly voices so I can totally capture them into the story.

I am also a huge re-reader. We have a special self of Miss Jess books, our favorites, that I have read so many times my kids know word for word. I love to hear them recite the books, using the same expressions, add libs, tones and pauses I use when I read.

One of my childhood favorites was Where the Wild Things Are, by Maurice Sendak, quickly became one of our beloved.

I love interacting stories where the kids can feel apart of what's happening so I made these little puppet/doll Max's for my kids...

I made these little cuties out of toilet paper tubes. No glue even needed. Just paint. Then I looked through the book and with a sharpie (my must have) drew different Max facial expressions.
They acted out the entire story. I loved every minute of it.

This poor blog.

I've been neglecting updates because I let myself get so busy. It's ridiculous.

Anyway, I'm at a cafe with some friends right now, and were all being busy on our laptops so I figured it was the perfect time for one.

Last week some lovelies came over and we had a much needed girls craft night. It was a wonderful time just talking and making pretty things. The girls snugged right into my terribly hoarded room of craft things and vintage finds. It made me happy. Love you both.

My dear joy snapped some shots and I thought I'd share them with you.

Aw, thanks for these Joy. Here's the pretty behind the camera...
This picture is a little old of her but its totally how I see her, camera, scarves, and big bags full of treasures:)

Button button who's got the button.

I collect buttons.

I have for quite some time, and when I see some I really love, I go a little "ekk" crazy.

A co-worker of mine came to me tell she had a box a vintage buttons that I could have. Score, I'm thinking an entire shoe box full of buttons this is going to be awesome.

Today she walked in with this...

I almost passed out. I'm still in shock and dont even know where to start to organize these. I'm so excited and needless to say, I wont need any buttons for awhile.
Thanks Bonnie!!

In other news, one of my little ones, Miss Tessa Nicole, turned five years old today. I can't believe it, I swear she was two yesterday and now shes leaving me in a few months for kindergarten. She is my other half this year- I swear she could run my class if i wasn't there. Just thankful I have little ones to hug and love on everyday.
Heres my beautiful birthday girl with her cutie cupcakes..

Have a beautiful evening,

My friends are getting married.

Since I was in high school I've been making most of my gifts for people. One of the most common things I enjoy giving friends of mine are personalized shadow boxes.

I have made so many different variations of these over the years, its sort of become a "jessallyn" speciality. I have loved growing into my own style and love seeing how different they all turn out based on who I am making them for.

I'm entering the stage of life where the weddings are going to start and not slow down for at least five years.
With that said this weekend I went to my friend Kim's bridal shower. I am so happy for her and her fiance Dave, they are so sweet together and you can truly tell they are best friends.
Ekk ekkk, I love love.

I made Kim a shadow box a long time ago for an apartment she had, it was very fun and young, but I thought she needed something more grown up for her and Dave's new house they bought this past fall.

I'm proud to say, my gift made her cry. haha. It really is always my favorite part, because then I know I really captured the persons essence inside a small wooden frame. And thats an accomplishment to me:)

trying to stay busy this week, I have a fun weekend ahead:)

happy monday,
