Wham bam thank you fam.

You know those night when you just feel blessed?
I had one of those recently.
My baby brother has been home on leave the last few weeks from the US Army. He has been all over the place trying to catch up and see everyone that I felt like we didn't have any really good "fam time". So saturday when we we having super basement clean out day, I said "thats it!" and we planned that Monday we would have a huge dinner for our "family". I say it like that because some blood relation people share isn't the only factor here. I'm talking down right love/hate, be there through anything, make you laugh, make you cry, sleep next to, fight with, play with your hair, unconditional people that make up your "family". And I'm really lucky to have mine.

My brothers and sisters.
Not only did we eat a literal feast of amazing food, we had ridiculous amounts of laughs. I just was so at peace and relaxed. I think everyone was, it was one of those much needed kind of nights.

Love makes you remember you are wanted.
from my happy heart,
jess

Keeping up.

I've been locking myself up at home because of all the work I have to get done. So occasionally I actually miss human contact and I escape to see some of my loves. Here's a peak at all the fun dates I have been going on.

1. Yogen Fruz with Lizzy. UH-mazing we're pretty much addicted.

2. Annual coffee date my Steven and Sarah. Oh I missed him so.

3. I baked my first ever apple pie from scratch. I know its pretty rough but I worked so hard and it actually turned out delish!

4. My sweet little Tessa, had been in my class for three years. So her family invited me over for a pre- first day of kindergarten breakfast. And of course Tess wanted us to have matching nails for her first day of school.

5. My little cousin Becca came to spend the weekend at my house. Fun nonsense, shopping dates, couch potatoes.

6. More apple pie and apple crisp with the girls. Walks to get coffee in the nice cool weather. And laughing about absolutely nothing.

I've been loving cozying up in sweaters, with warm drinks and pie. We had a really lovely labor day but it really deserves its own post.
I have painting to get done. No homework tonight:)

Cause you and me have stood the test of time.

I got an email from a dear friend of mine Sarah earlier this summer. She is recently engaged and asked my friend Rachel and I to do a "Yay, I'm getting married photo shoot" for her:) Of course we agreed. My friend Rachel (who I previously posted about) is super talented and was going to photograph, Sar had asked me to do all the styling for the shoot because of my attention (or obsession) to details. It was really lovely. Sarah is a super history nerd, so of course I wanted to use all my vintage goodies. I wasn't the photographer, but I had my camera handy and it was near impossible not to take pictures because everything was just so enchanting.
For you Sar, I love you..
I am so thankful I get to be apart of things like this,
I live a really beautiful life.

.bird.

Tonight I'm like a paper doll.

So of course I have time to make a post and I have no new photos uploaded. Fail.
But I do have a very beautiful find I came across a few weeks ago.
On my way into work one early morning I passed a small barn with its doors open and what looked like tables filled with "stuff". I was unsure if it was a sale or just summer clean out but i stopped anyway.
There I was met by an adorable elderly couple who invited me in to look around. They had a lot a really beautiful treasure but all had been accurately appraised, way out of my price range. I went into a small shed next door where they had told me they kept the antique furniture. My eyes were locked, could they really be selling this? I had come in contact with a beautiful antique dollhouse. It was what I have been looking for. I have an old victorian my Dad built be when I was little, but this is what I wanted a very simple 5 room house, straight clean lines. I looked and looked for a price tag but couldn't find a thing. Finally, I asked the woman to come over and see. She explained to me that it was an actual dollhouse from the thirty's and I was welcome to have it for free.
.. mouth dropped ...
I told her there must be some mistake, if I could even give her ten bucks I would. She said it had been there forever and I would be doing her a favor to take it off her hands. I wanted to just hug her, but I also didn't want to break her.
I thank her about a million times and happily carried my new toy to my car.
I KNOW. You're staring at those pictures in disbelief, I'm sure. But really its mine. I plan to do some renovating to it, but just want to be so careful not to ruin any of its distinct original features.
Okay, off to get some work done. I'll try to update later this evening.
Hope you all enjoyed the long weekend.
Love,
J

Oh Saturdays.

Oh delayed posts.
These pictures are from LAST saturday. And I have so much more I want to share, but feel like I need to stay somewhat in sequence haha.
So after Joy and I had stayed up far too late last Friday, we rolled out of bed early and picked up some friends and headed to the market.
The day was BEAUTIFUL and the market was really alive.
Joy treated us all to coffee, shes so sweet.
Then we came home, Boyfriend finally got home, Joy made us an awesome lunch, and then threw together an apple pie like nobody's business.
No seriously, Yum!
Tomorrow I have literally dedicated entirely to crafting, I'm getting somewhat nervous with Hearts and Crafts right around the corner. I'm still in an adjustment period funk, so my mind is everywhere. I have good people helping me hold it together though.
Hope everyone has the day off tomorrow and can just enjoy company with loved ones.
Goodnight,
J
