gleek chic´

I know I have shared my Glee obsession with you, but when Maria and I were watching this summer and I saw Quinn with this hat... I needed it.
(no seriously I went slightly crazy lusting over it)

Luckily for me I have a Mum that is an amazing knitter! I emailed her these pictures and crossed my fingers she would be able to figure it out and about a month later I received this...
I mean really!? I have barely been able to take it off I love it so much.
I think this sort of takes my obsession to a whole new level.
gleek out,

I'm alive.

I hope you haven't missed me too much. I have been a super busy bee which always makes me wish I was blogging more because there's so much to share.

Last week I started writing out Greg and I's fall wish list, of things we hope to do or make. Its funny to see it now because after the weekend some of these things we already accomplished. I cannot wait to add as we go, and see how many things we get done.
There is a lot going on in the next few days, I'll share more of it later tonight. I just wanted to pop in and say a little hello, hope your day is going quite wonderful.

Thursdays for Thought.

This has been the theme of my life in the last year. Since leaving the preschool, I have felt as if the ground beneath me has been moved and I am constantly reaching my toes down in search of the something solid. Pursing any way to make myself feel accomplished or whole again. I find myself my striving to reach every goal right now, so I do not have to bare any kind of feeling of failure. Not only am I forgetting "enjoy now", I am hurrying my moments away as if I ever so many chances to be who I am right now, to just be 23.
When this quote was staring me in the face in a recent book I read, I felt like I had been exposed as if the book literally said, "hey jess, stop rushing your life away and enjoy it!".
The author went on to say this:
"If I can enjoy the present, I don't need to count on the happiness that is (or isn't) waiting for me in the future"
Um, really. Ok.. you got me.
And its true, the "happiness" you are rushing to get to isn't even guaranteed. There's no certificate that says I will be infinitely happier when I graduate, or get my own apartment, or get married, or whatever variable I substitute for X.
Happiness may be implied in these areas but its not a sure thing.

So today instead of hating my campus (which is usual) I sat on the concrete step outside the art building with my big headphones on and stared at the trees behind the building for 15 minutes.
15 minutes without interruption or wishing I was somewhere else, I just enjoyed the breeze and the music in my ears and the colors of the fall trees. It might be insignificant to you, but soon it wont be fall anymore. Sooner or later I wont be in college anymore. And someday farrr away I'm sure I wont be able to take 15 minutes out of my day to sit and just listen to music.

So I am deciding to "enjoy now", for all its glory, all its pain, and all the things I am to learn from it. I am going to count each of these occasions as precious and assume I will never be allowed a "do-over".
Dear Future,
I'll see you when I get there.

DIY: Pie in a Jar.

Good Morning Dear Friends!
I have a super yummy DIY to share with you on this sunny day.
You may or may not have known that pies in a jar seem to be a new yummy trend and I figured I would test it out and share my findings with you all.
I made these when I went to visit the boys this weekend, so assuming they have nothing in their apartment and not wanting to transport everything, I found a simple way to make pumpkin pie. Anyone could make these even if you do not think you are a baker. I used small jam jars considering it would be easiest to eat out of since they are short. Reminder that your jars or any glass you use needs to be oven safe, mason jars are made to handle the high temperatures so its easy to bake with them.
1. cover the bottom and sides of your jars with your crust.
Remember to feel free to make crust as you usually do.
I do not normally use roll out crust but under the circumstances it seemed like the best plan.
3-4 roll out crusts should be enough to cover 12 mini jars.
2. make your pie filling and fill your jars!
again you can make your normal recipe, mine just uses lots of different spices I knew the boys wouldn't have. If you need something easy just use this..
-1 can pumpkin
-1 can condensed milk
-2 eggs
-1 tsp cinnamon
-1 tsp pumpkin pie spice

3. bake!
Preheat your oven to 425, bake for 15 minutes.
Lower heat to 350, bake for 35 minutes.
This is standard pumpkin pie cook time, I didn't find the jars to be any different but because it could be based on your oven, your jars, ect I would watch them.
4. indulge.
Oh man, the boys sure did. I enjoyed my share too, I'm just partial to my recipe, aren't we all?
They were so cute though, I think they would be perfect for a party.
I made a pumpkin pie last night for glee night (my way hehe) and with the extra crust I made I popped a couple of these in the oven and for my nanny kids. Since the lids can go on them they were a super special lunch box treat for them today:) ek!
I am pretty much obsessed with pie season, it always makes the house smell delicious.
We have a realllly exciting weekend ahead, some of our Jersey friends are visiting! I'm sure we will be busy bees and I cannot wait to all be together again.
Here's to hoping the rest of the week goes quickly so we all can enjoy our weekend!

favorite things.

I have been feeling badly that my "Friday Five" has fallen through, but seeing that I can barely make time to blog surfing through Etsy for hours is most definitely not something I can fit in my schedule right now.
So I figured to share a new segment, it will sort of be bits and pieces of everything, things I'm loving, things I'm finding, things inspiring me.
pumpkin candy corns are my favoriteeee.
This print my boy made for me.
I cannot wait to make these apple muffins I saw on Lindsey's blog.
A Boston beauties new haircut.
rainy Saturday soup in a bowl my love made.
Beth posted pictures on her blog of Adam and Sarah's wedding that completely melted me.

a kitchen I wish I owned.
and a getaway relaxing weekend with greg.

Well friends these are a few of my favorite things this week. Hope you all had a most lovely weekend. I'll be around this week with more happy things to share with you.
