DIY: infused waters

This is probably the easiest and most refreshing DIY's I'm sure I'll ever share on the blog.
I know to most water is, well water, and some floating fruit may not make any difference to you. But, if you are like me and only drink water, it is nice to have a little variety in flavor from time to time.

You need this stuff:
1. fruit 2. herbs 3. pitcher 4. fork 5. straws

1. cut up your fruit and herbs.
We decided to make lemon mint water and strawberry basil water. YUM!
2. Fill your pitchers up with water and mix in your goods. As soon as you drop in the fruit you will see the water slightly change in color.
3. Now you need to get some of the juice out of your fruit. We used a fork and squished the strawberries on the side of the pitcher and we squeezed one of the lemon slices in the water. You do not need to go crazy with this no mashing or anything. The longer the fruit sits in the water the stronger the taste will be.
4. Drink up! I put straws in "stuff you need" because lets be honest who doesn't want to drink out of  straw!

Le Wedding//Let the season begin!

We traveled to Jersey last weekend to take part in a very special celebration!
Our dear friends Dennis and Presley tied the knot which began this crazy wedding season.

 The ceremony was completely beautiful. They were both beaming as they looked at one another, filling the entire room with massive amounts of love.
They transformed Presley's backyard into an enchantingly beautiful reception, where we all watched as two best friends celebrated their devotion to each other.


The rest of us celebrated with lots of laughs, pie, and dancing the night away in their honor:)

It was a truly fantastic evening, I couldn't have felt more privileged to be able to witness something so wonderful.
Here's to Dennis and Presley, I pray you grow together in every season of life, and your love only become greater with time.

things lately.

I do not know why I cannot get back in my blog rhythm. It feels so strange and quite honestly, sucks. 

Do you ever have off weeks? Or even months? Where you feel like you cannot get back into the swing of life. Thats where I am, I have been told it sometimes happens when you're planning a wedding, that you feel sort of zapped creatively. My mind is just always full of so many life things recently that not only do I not sleep at night, but the thought of cultivating something to share seems near impossible. 

 But I am going to keep pressing on, because lets be honest I have been committed to this silly internet nook for quite some time now and a little case of the crazy get the best of me.

So here's a little glimpse of things I have been enjoying lately, things that keep my sanity and keep my brain from completely exploding.

making homemade doughnuts with my nanny kids. SO delish.

 Day dates with Lizzy are always a most excellent way to spend my time, love her.

I had the privilege of making boutonnieres for a dear friends wedding.

 I think in my head if I keep drinking iced passion tea lemonades summer will come sooner.

 Organizing my fabric is always the hardest and the happiest. Getting rid of things is always pretty hard for me but seeing everything nice and neat after always makes me giddy. Plus always happy I can pass some of my unneeded fabric off to my little Laura love now that she sews:)

So many garage sales with my girl.

Thankful for these things, these people. No matter how insane things seem to be getting I am trying to remember to be slow and enjoy every little aspect of this season. I know how quickly it will come and go.

Please don't go. We'll eat you up. We love you so.

Sometimes we have to share sad things too.

I wanted to pay a very small tribute to a very great man.

This morning children's author Maurice Sendak has passed and I feel it only fitting to contribute to small piece of my love and appreciation. 

If you are wondering who he is, I may want to call you a fool, but instead I will just share with you some of the things he created in his lifetime. 

"I like interesting people and kids are really interesting people"

Obviously we should have been friends.

Most widely he is known for writing the classic Where The Wild Things Are, his books were some of my very favorites growing up and even his illustrations in other books are still some of my favorite to date. His reoccurring character and styling has influenced and inspired both my doodle filled journals and my paintings and even my save the dates for goodness sake!

He believed in being real with children. He believed in storytelling. He believed in the things that lived deep within our imagination and dreams. 

Thank you for bringing both beautiful and dark, true and imaginary, and leaving the world with a little bit of your magic.
